The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an Indian board of education at the national level, under the control and management of the Government of India.  Established in 1989 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, NIOS boasts the biggest open schooling system worldwide, enrolling approximately 350,000 students annually at secondary and senior secondary levels. Over the years, its cumulative enrollment from 2004 to 2009 has reached approximately 1.5 million students. NIOS offers courses to jail inmates free of cost, enabling them to get an education and improve their lives.

To log in to your NIOS account, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the NIOS Student Portal at https://sdmis.nios.ac.in/.
  2. Click on the "Login" button on the top right corner of the page.
  3. Enter your 11/12 digit enrollment number and select the type of your enrollment from the drop-down menu.
  4. Enter your password in the "Password" field.
  5. Click on the "Submit" button to log in to your account.

Once you have logged in, you can access your profile, download/upload TMA(s), and view your results and study materials.
